I get this question a lot from brides who schedule their first appointment to search for their dream dress. The answer I always give is: "not really!" When trying on designer gowns, most of them have all of the structure you need built right in! So not only do you NOT need strapless or supportive undergarments for your bridal appointment, you shouldn't need them for the day of your wedding either! Now this comes with some exceptions....for brides who prefer to have more structure or support, we can always have our seamstress sew cups or something even more covering right into the dress! The only reason to need something like a strapless bra at your appointment is for your own comfort as you get in and out of the dresses. Shoes are unnecessary too! Unless you are like my best friend, Elise, who is 5'10", you're going to need a hem regardless! And shoes don't help with that because there is usually so much extra fabric at the bottom of the dress. Plus we do have a pair for you to use to get an "idea". There is ONE thing you do need to worry about bringing to your appointment: The people in your life who love and support you the most! There is NOTHING like it when the moment comes and the bride says YES, and her family and friends are there to share in this memorable occasion! So brides of RI, MA, and CT -don't fret about your 1st (or 2nd, or 3rd...100th..) appointment. It should be nothing but a fun and comfortable experience!
